My circle skirt is finished and I love it. I like that I took my time in making the skirt. For the record it only took 3 1/4 days to sew (and those aren't full days), but for me, that is a long time just to sew a skirt. I like it when skirts only take like half a day. That is more up my speed. Though, with me taking longer in sewing my skirt I was able to hand sew the hem in, iron ever seam, and just take my time in general. Who knows, I might do it again as I like the results that taking your time does.
One thing is for sure. The skirt looks nice and I keep forgetting that I made it. {I'm not trying to be proud, or anything. I truly have been forgetting. Honest.} I keep thinking that I bought it at like Anthropologie. Which is a good thing right?
Want to know a secret? I wore this same outfit on Sunday to church. Can you tell I really like this outfit? Originally I was going to wear an Anthropologie knit top that I bought with my birthday gift from Anthro in LA. But the strangest thing happened to it. Part of the knit lost its elasticity, so I'll need to refashion it a bit so I can wear it again (Hmm, I should do a post about the shirt sometime. Maybe one of you could give me some advice on how to fix it.). But I wasn't too worried as I bought some knit fabric in LA that was very close to my Anthro top that I bought {on the same trip}. So I just whipped up a tank on Saturday night for me to wear on Sunday.
Other news, my package from Forever21.com arrived early today. It was schedule to arrive on Friday, then Wednesday. But when I went to get the mail today, there was my package in the mailbox. What a wonderful surprise! Everything I bought is in the above polyvore set. I can't wait to wear everything!
p.s.
I'll be doing a movie review of courageous sometime this week.

What I Wore | I Got Bangs!

About a month ago I bought this purple maxi skirt in the clearance section at Target (what a dangerous store for me & my wallet). The color was perfect to be worn during the fall and winter so I bought it. I LOVE it! It doesn't feel too long to wear. Which is key for me. I've been known to rip out my hems by stepping on them. um, yes. It is also lots of fun to style. Y'all will definitely be seeing this skirt a lot in the coming months.
In other news, I finished my sewing my circle skirt. About 9 o'clock last night I started hand sewing the hem on my skirt. My skirt was looking so nice that I wasn't about to ruin the look by sewing the hem on my sewing machine. So after sewing 1/4 of the hem last night I went to bed. And finished the other 3/4 of the hem while watching, The Winning Team {1952} & A Yank as Eton {1942} today. The latter film has Mickey Rooney {22}, Freddie Bartholomew {18}, and Peter Lawford {19}. What I found funny about this movie is that Bartholomew played an older half-brother, by one year, to Rooney (As you can see above, next to everyone's name I have their age at the time the movie came out). That was odd. It would be even more odd if you had only see them together in Little Lord Fauntleroy. Oh, my.
Well, I better get going. Soon we will be eating diner then it's off to the movie theater.

What I Wore | 1950s Poodle Skirt
After working on my circle skirt for Casey's sew along these past two days {it just needs to be hemmed!}. I've been in a very 1950s mood. What I really wanted to wear today was my only true vintage dress. But sadly, this spring it became too small for me to wear. Meaning the dress just sits in my closet. So instead I wore my poodle skirt and 50s blouse that I made back in late February of 2009.I must admit the last time I wore this combination was in March of 2009. It was to the screening of a movie that I did the costumes and make-up for. But when I wore this outfit, I hid most of what I was wearing underneath my winter coat. I wasn't brave enough yet for everyone to see my 1950s style outfit. Now, I feel like myself in vintage style clothing. I don't feel like I need to hid my outfits under coats anymore. Why look, I'm wearing a 50s petticoat too with this outfit! I would have to say, blogging about my outfits over the past two years has helped me wear what I truly want to wear. It has also help me build up my confidence - fashion wise. It also helps that I follow people like, Casey and Amber {two of my favorite people in the blogging world} who dress like this all the time.

Sewing Information::
Skirt Pattern: Simplicity #5403 (you can still buy this pattern)
Fabric: Cotton broadcloth (poodle: felt / The leash: string of plastic beads from Joann Fabrics)
::Notes::
I used snaps to close up the side {no, zipper on this skirt. I didn't enjoy putting in zippers when I made this skirt. But once I took a class on putting in zippers I didn't fear them anymore.}

Blouse Pattern: Vintage Simplicity 4757 {1954}
Fabric: Vintage fabric that was given to me. I have no clue to the date of the fabric. Any ideas anyone? As I would love to know how old the fabric is.
::Notes::
I could have added more buttons down the front. There are only three. Um, yes. It was fine when I first wore the blouse. But, um, when it was washed it wasn't so good anymore. So when ever I wear the blouse I add safety pins to help close the blouse up.
See this fabric? It is the fabric for my circle skirt that I'm making right now. When I bought the fabric in L.A. I didn't know what I was going to use it for. It turned out it was perfect for a circle skirt. I can't wait to style the skirt when it is done. *smiles*
I also want to say hello to any new readers from Pink Lemonade {The Blog}. For those who don't know, I did a guest post on there today. Go check it out here.

My inspiration for my outfit is on the right. Isn't it pretty? Yes, it was featured yesterday on here. lol. When I was putting together this outfit I made the discovery that I don't own a black long sleeve shirt. So I wore a short sleeve top instead. This outfit also marks my first fall outfit for the year that I'm wearing tights. What fun! I love tights {which is odd, as I used to hate tights}. They are a fun and an easy way to add a punch of color.
