What I Wore | Sunshine Day + eShakti Review

A few months ago I contacted eShakti about doing a review for them and they agreed. But I wasn't able to put in my order right away because their review form was down for updates. But mid last month I was finally able to put in my dress request. Yay! I was so excited because I've been eyeing this polka-dot dress for awhile now. Do you think I have enough polka-dot clothing yet? I just can't get enough of polka-dots. The dress is beautiful and fits like a dream! I had the option to get it custom fitted, but the only custom thing I did was the length {since I'm 5' 8"} as I wasn't sure how it would fall as is. I l.o.v.e this dress and guess what? It has pockets in it!! Wearing this dress I feel like I should be in a 1950s Technicolor musical. As the dress is so colorful & happy. I see myself wearing this dress a lot this Spring & Summer {including a wedding later this month}.

Anyways, I found the customer service to be good to work with. I would definitely recommend ordering from them if you are looking for clothes customized to fit how you want.

Sewing Inspiration: Lace Dresses, Hi-Low Skirts, & Scalloped Shorts...

While I'm waiting for some fabric to arrive in the mail I've decided to gather together my thoughts and share them with y'all. This will help me decided what to make with each fabric before they arrive in the mail. I also just realized that most of the fabrics I picked out I've never work with before {lace, voile, & twill}.

First I found some really pretty lace fabric for a dress. That will be fun to play around with. Like deciding on if the dress should be lined with a white material, or in a fun color? What should the style of the dress be? Modern? 50s or 60s inspired? Should the dress have sleeves? What will the length of the dress be? I've put together a mood board of lace dresses that have been inspiring me lately for a sewing inspiration guide.

  
Well, judging by these pictures I really like half-sleeves. Which is interesting, since most dress I make either have cap sleeves, or are sleeveless. It also looks like I like my lace dress to be more fitted & just below-my-knee. Brilliant! What do you know, talking about this with y'all is helping me decided what I want to do. I really must do this more often.

Another sewing project I have planned is for one of those hi-low skirts {I'll be using the floral voile}. Have you seen them? Well, they've kinda intrigued me lately. Then when my best friend Achaia made one - I knew I just had to try it out for myself. Here are some hi-low skirts that are inspiring me right now for my version.

I tend to like the less drastic hi-low skirts. I think I want the high point to be just-below-my-knees and drop about 5 to 8 inches in the back. I'll have to experiment with different lengths to find the perfect one for me.

The red gingham is for a '50s/J. Crew/Anthro. inspired button down blouse. While the pink twill is for a pair of '50s shorts {think Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina}. But I might put a modern twist on the shorts - like a scallop hem. For the grey voile I haven't decided what to use it for yet. Perhaps some type of top/blouse like the Decades of Style pattern pictured above. Decisions, Decisions.

What I'm Wearing: Striped Tee Forever 21 // Cropped Pants J. Jill // Earrings Claire's // Flats Old Navy

Once again I'm keeping it simple. I tend to go through phases "fashion wise" and right now I'm in the keeping it simple & classic phase. Who knows what phase I'll will be next week.

The whole reason I bought these cropped pants was because of Audrey Hepburn. They are classic & will never go out of style - they are also very comfy. Hmmm...I'm also loving things that are comfy this week. Interesting. 

Anyways, I'm going to be spending the evening eating cookies & watching a bunch of movies {Audie Murphy, James Stewart, Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly are all scheduled to make an appearance this evening} and perhaps do some sewing too. How are you going to spend your evening?

What I Wore | Faces Change, Even Smiles Grow Strange

I kept today's outfit fairly simply & comfy {I must be on a simple & comfy kick right now} as I was giving a dress fitting today. Also, it was my turn to cook dinner tonight. I made meatloaf, red mashed potatoes, salad, corn, and chewy brownie cookies for dessert. Well, those cookies are going to be more for a snack because we all ate a little too much for supper. *smile*

Oh, yes. Today's pictures were taken by my brother. His trademark for pictures is...he loves people jumping in their pictures. But do you know how hard it is to jump in heels on pavement? It really hurts your feet. Also, pardon the wrinkles in my dress. It wasn't so wrinkly this morning. 

Tomorrow I plan on sewing a skirt for my mom and start sewing blouses for Gaby & I. There may even be time to clean out some of my old fabric {but I normally never get around to doing it}.

I want to mention my earrings in today's post. They were given to me for a review. And I must say, Lauren has some really cute stuff in her shop! The earrings she sent me to review are called, Edith - the earrings so adorable & dainty! I would highly recommend that you check out her shop. As I love my earrings & I love supporting people who sell on Etsy.

Another thing that needs mentioning is the StyleMint tee I'm wearing today. About two weeks ago StyleMint had a live event online & I attend this it. Well, during the event they were having this deal where you could get two tees for the price of one. Since I'm on the look out for nice & comfy tees that fit well I decided to place an order. I picked out the Jackson {red/ivory stripes} and the Newbury {white} since they are both great basic tees to have in your wardrobe. I love these tees! They are so comfy & cute. StyleMint also added the tote bag for free to my order {which was a fun surprise!}. Just one thing I should mention, the white tee I'm wearing today is thin & I'm wearing a cami underneath.
