What I Wore | Keeping it Neutral [Bonus:: What's in my Purse? video]

What I'm Wearing
Army Green Tunic -- H&M [free]
Black Skinnies -- H&M [$18]
Ankle Booties -- Old Navy [$17]
Leopard Scarf -- J.Crew via Thrift Store [$8]
Faux-Pearl Earrings -- Forever 21 [free]

I like to keep my outfits on Tuesday's rather simple without too many layers, since I babysit a little boy in the evenings. Today is no exception. I paired my favorite tunic/blouse from H&M [that I was able to pick up for FREE at the store last fall], with some black skinnies [I've been really into black & other neutral colours lately] and ankle booties. To accessories my outfit I threw on my leopard print scarf, some simple faux-pearl earrings, put my hair up in a messy bun, and did a rather simple makeup look [basic eye look, blusher, & some nude lipstick] -- a relaxed, yet stylish & chic look for everyday.

Back in January I filmed a What's in my Bag? video for my YouTube channel, and I just realized that I never shared it with y'all. Hmm...this must be remedied, since if you are able to see inside someone's purse, you can learn more about that person. Like for me, you will discover that I really love my lip products [please don't count how many are in my purse].

Happy Birthday, Ronnie!

Today, if he was still alive, would be Ronald Reagan's birthday -- one of my favorite old Hollywood actors! The very first film I saw him in was, Knute Rockne: All American [1940], of course, way back when I first saw this film I had no idea that he was ever President of the United States. Yeah. I was young, and didn't really read history books past World War two at that time.

Anyhow, since 2009, I've been working on seeing most of Ronnie's films and so far I've seen about 22 of his films -- thanks mostly to TCM since most of his films are really hard to find on DVD, or even VHS.

Some of my favorite films of his are, well...all of them! He was such a great actor, that I really love every acting roll that I've seen him in.

Of course, there are some films that I love more than others. Those are the following:

  • Hong Kong (1952) Starring:: Ronald Reagan, Nigel Bruce, and Rhonda Fleming.
  • Bedtime for Bonzo (1951) Starring:: Ronald Reagan
  • Storm Warning (1951) Starring:: Ronald Reagan, Ginger Rogers, and Doris Day
  • That Hagen Girl (1947) Starring:: Ronald Reagan and Shirley Temple.
  • Desperate Journey (1942) Starring:: Ronald Reagan, Errol Flynn, Raymond Massey, Ronald Sinclair, Alan Hale, and Arthur Kennedy.
  • The Angels Wash Their Faces (1939) Starring:: Ronald Reagan, Ann Sheridan, and The Dead End Kids.
  • Million Dollar Baby (1941) Starring:: Ronald Reagan and Priscilla Lane.
  • The Voice of the Turtle (1947) Starring:: Ronald Reagan, Eleanor Parker, and Eve Arden.
The Voice of the Turtle [1947]
If you ever want to see a film with a character who as all of my little quirks, be sure to check out the film, The Voice of the Turtle [1947] -- as me & Eleanor Parker's character, Sally, are like two peas in a pod when it comes to our little quirks [the way we make our beds, talk to inanimate objects, don't want to hurt the feelings of things, how we clean when nervous & people are coming over, etc...].

What are some of your favorite Ronnie films?

What I Wore | Styling a Maxi Skirt for Winter

What I Wore
Gingham Button-down -- J.Crew [$13]
Sequin Cream Jumper -- H&M [$5]
Black Knit Maxi Skirt -- Forever 21 [$13.80]
Tall Boots -- JustFab [$34]
Statement Necklace -- c/o OASAP
Nail Polish -- Cover Girl Outlast Stay Brilliant in toasted almond [$2.40]
Lip Colour -- Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie [$4.50]

Hello everyone!
I've been living in this knit maxi skirt this whole week at work. It is comfy, warm, and looks stylish no matter how you style it [I've already styled it five different ways]. Of course, I didn't mention that I found it at Forever 21 for $13.80 on their website two weeks ago, almost three now. Who would have thought you could find a great quality knit maxi skirt at Forever 21? I'm thinking I should pick up the other colours they sell too, since I adore maxi skirts.

Today I styled my skirt kinda in a J.Crew-way -- with a gingham button-down, sequin jumper, and a statement necklace. I was going to wear booties, but instead I opted for my tall boots since we had a snow storm last night. I figured they would help keep my legs warm & keep me from slipping on any ice or snow [since my booties have a heel].

Well, I better get going. Talk to y'all later.

A few of my favorite things... | YouTube Favorites

Last night I came up with a fun idea, "why not share some of my favorite YouTube video[s]/channel[s] that I've been/have watching/seen within the past week, ever so often?". A bit of a warning though, most of my favorite YouTubers are from the UK. What can I say? I'm a Brit at heart. *grin*

Holly Bee -- A young lady from the UK who recently started a YouTube channel. She is really a sweet girl, and I adore her accent. I also kinda think that she looks like Adele.

Benedict Cumberbatch reading aloud, John Keats - Ode to a Nightingale. -- Umm...I find Benedict Cumberbatch's voice very southing, that I want him to do audio books of some of my favorite books. The Sherlock Holmes stories anyone?

Have you seen the 2014 Jaguar commercial for the Super Bowl? It is pretty epic.

Super excited for Captain America: The Winter Soldier to come out, as he is my favorite Avenger.

*SPOILERS*

*SPOILERS*[Only watch this video if you have seen all THREE episodes of SERIES THREE, as there are spoilers in it.] -- I've been obsessed with Sherlock series 3, since it first aired in the UK on January 1st. It has also been great re-reading the original Sherlock Holmes stories & seeing the bits that are in the show. Also, can I just say, if you watch Sherlock and are a huge fan of the show, but have never the original stories, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!? Go read the stories now, before the fourth series airs. Also, check out the Basil Rathbone films where he played Sherlock Holmes, you might recognize some scenes that Moffat & Gatiss put into the show [as they are both fans of these Sherlock films, as am I].

What I Wore | Casual Thursday

What I'm Wearing
Rusty Red/Orange Tee -- Ann Taylor Loft [hand-me-up]
Skinny Jeans -- Forever 21 [$10]
Combat Boots -- JCPenny [gift]
Sherlock Wallpaper Inspired Scarf -- Target [$7]
Earrings -- Little Black Bag
Lip Colour -- Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie

Hello girlies!
Today it has been a casual day at home, while I get some things done around the house. Like: washing my clothes, tidying up my room, planning out some sewing episodes for a web series I'm doing this year, and doing some general house cleaning things. Later this evening Hanne-col & I will be finishing the film, Murder on the Orient Express [1974]. Which so far, is very close to the book, which is shocking since I've never seen a film that kept so close to the book. There are parts of the script where the lines are word-for-word to the book. It is awesome. Also, it is freaky on how similar Anthony Perkins & Andrew Garfield look alike.
