A Sneak Peek into My Room

Eventually I want to share pictures of my whole room (which I share with my sister, Hanne-col), but until we finish hanging up pictures & we tidy the room up a bit, these will do. I figure that by sharing some pictures now, this will help motivate me to do a proper room tour sometime this year. *smile* Enjoy!

Starbucks + Window Shopping

On Wednesday evenings I drive some of my siblings to high-school bible study. Usually I go hangout at half-price books to browse through the books, movies, and records. Tonight though was different, as Gaby came with me and we decided to instead go window shopping at the higher-end shopping mall with all the designer type shops. It was loads of fun, even though the prices kept us from buying anything, we enjoyed looking at everything and getting style inspiration.

Some of that shops that we enjoyed looking at were the following (either inside, or just through the windows): Anthro, Madewell, J. Crew, Free People, Kate Spade, and Banana Republic. While browsing around we discovered that Madewell is amazing -- even if the prices aren't. The sales girls were dressed like our pinterest boards -- classic, with a touch of hipster & preppy. The clothes are to die for, some of the prices might make you gasp. But...the dresses are the right length (and are cute too), the leather jackets are soft, the button-downs come in an array of beautiful patterns, and the tees are comfortable. They also have some of the cutest shoes, handbags, and jewelry. I think I've covered the whole store now. Yep, I think I have. *grin*

It was also great to see a Free People store in real life -- their clothes are the type I like to wear when I want to be comfy -- very boho with a relaxed/vintage vibe. Yeah, my style changes with my mood, but that is who I am. Anyhow, we weren't able to go into Free People, since we want to stop at Starbucks before picking up the others at their Bible study. Can I just say, y'all need to try the Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuccino -- it is like fall in a cup. This was my first time ever having one, and I think it will be my frap of choice in the coming weeks (until December that is, when I switch to the Peppermint Mocha).

Now, I'm sitting in bed blogging (where I do most of my blog work), eating chips & salsa, all the while catching up on my new favorite TV show. Well...I better get going, as I'm doing more watching than writing right now. *smile* 

It has been fun doing a post like. I used to do more posts like this all the time, but I kinda lost myself when my blog started getting bigger and I wanted to please everyone and still look professional.

Randomness

Hello lovelies! How is your weekend so far? I've been busy branding Bramblewood Fashion, as I thought it was high time I did so. That has been fun. So far, I've given the blog a new look (with matching blog buttons), learned how to make a clickable header, and created a matching FB page header. Eventually, I'll be rebranding our YouTube Channel & twitter page. How do y'all like the new look? I was going for a modern/vintage look, and I'm also working on cleaning the sidebar up. Also, eventually I'll be going through & updating all of the pages too.

This afternoon Gaby & I went for a quick run to Ulta to pick up a few things. I picked out the three above OPI nail polish, since I had some bonus points, a coupon, & they were having a special: buy two OPI polished get on base coat or top coat free. I've been wanting a more neutral nail colour for the fall, so I picked up the Berlin There Done That from their Germany collection. While my second fun choice is In the Cable Car-Pool Lane from their latest San Francisco collection for fall. I can't wait to try them out, along with the base coat which I thought would be great for all the darker colours I'll be wearing in the fall & winter.

Hello lovelies! I just want to say, welcome to all of my new followers! I hope y'all enjoy reading my blog, all current & past posts. Though, my style a few years ago make me cringe now. So, yeah, maybe not too far back. *grin* Back to today's outfit post, I was given the chance to pick out some items from Choies to style -- and can I say, their stuff is pretty top-notch. I picked out this black knit dress (along with a black & white striped version), and the floral headband (which I thought was a nice change from my typical style picks).

When the black dress arrived in the mail, I knew I didn't want to just throw a cardigan or jacket over it. I want to style the dress a little different, a little more BoHo chic which is a style I sometimes like to wear. Hmm...I tend to do this style when ever I wear knit dresses & skirts. Not sure why. Anyhow...to make the outfit more BoHo, I added the lace vest & floral headband -- both typical BoHo pieces. I think the finished look is very much something Esther might wear, as I can totally see her wearing this.

Hello everyone! I won this vintage '70s Hawaiian sundress in a giveaway last summer, but the color was a little brighter then I'm used to. Also, the neckline of this dress was a little high, so I did the unthinkable (for me at least) I refashioned the neckline. Guys, I cut into a vintage dress! I dislike cutting up, taking apart anything vintage (70s or earlier), so this was hard for me to do. Anyhow, even after refashioning the neckline (so it didn't choke me anymore), I still found the dress a bit bright. Fast forward to this summer and I realized, hey I can tone down the dress with my jean jacket -- now I don't feel like it is so very bright. *smile*

I've been wanting to wear autumn outfits for awhile, and since today is the first day of September I thought it fitting to wear an outfit that mixes both summer & fall. I a.d.o.r.e this outfit. Typically, I don't go for orange, but when I wore a jumper in this colour last autumn y'all commented on how good the colour looked on me. You know what? I think this orange colour helps me look more alive -- which is always a good thing when you have a light complexion.  

Anyhow...with today's outfit I was inspired by Ruche, which tends to be my main source of outfit inspiration come autumn. In the warmer months I'm heavily influenced by J.Crew, but come cooler weather months when I'm starting to layer more pieces together, I tend to glen most of inspiration on the vintage/BoHo side of things. 

Well, I better get going. Us three older girls are going to have a girly night tonight. We are going to watch British period dramas, do our nails, fix each other's hair, and just talk the night away. Sounds like fun, huh?
